Gender Specific Treatment for Women
A substantial amount of research supports the need for gender specific treatment. Women most often have issues that differ from those of men. Women usually process information differently. Men tend to be more “end result” oriented while women are usually very process-oriented and feelings-oriented. Therefore, treatment planning, the environment, the length and intensity of treatment, as well as several other treatment elements, must naturally be very different for women than for men.
Integrated Treatment
Grace House welcomes women in need of treatment for co-occurring disorders. The term “co-occurring disorder” refers to an individual having addictive disorders coupled with one, or more, diagnosed mental disorder.
Individualized Care
We believe that treatment is intended to return each woman to an acceptable level of physical, emotional, spiritual, social and occupational functioning. Each woman, with the help and guidance of her counselor, develops an individualized plan that guides her treatment process, addressing her individual needs.
